I started reading this book because I saw a preview for the movie. I’m not even halfway through this book and it’s already applying to my life. Let me explain…
This books has a lot of medical details because the sister has Leukemia and I find myself understanding a lot because we just went over it in Microbiology. Also, the lawyer in the book has a working dog but he isn’t blind. It turns out that there are working dogs for medical alerts, and the neat thing is that a lady has been coming into the lab I work at with one so I’ve seen it and knew what it was!
The movie is out on DVD now and I expect to rent it soon, but I wanted to finish the book first so it may take me a while as it’s a pretty thick book. I’ve never read anything else by the author, but so far, I’m enjoying this and I might venture further in her direction in the future.
This is the other book I am reading and if you didn’t know, it’s part of the Sookie Stackhouse series that HBO’s True Blood is based on. I read the first few books before I watched the TV shows related to them and I’m glad I did because some of the stuff on the TV is from later books like 3 and 4. I’m interested to see how the TV show goes because they are a little off track from the books, but that’s another post. :)
